Affirmations are all the rage these days. Have you tried them? I can understand why someone would hesitate to stand in front of a mirror and talk to themselves, but there is a lot of evidence in favor of giving it a shot. Affirmations allow you to consciously rewrite neural pathways with what you want to experience more of. Hearing things over and over helps you integrate those beliefs into your life. But not every affirmation is created equal.

5 lessons learned from a non-traditional career path

It’s been a year since I quit my job. It also coincidentally almost coincides with my birthday which makes the reflection factor high. In case you need a recap, in the spring of 2018 I was seriously considering what I wanted to do with my life. I was tired of people asking me, “how’s work?” and only being able to reply with, “it’s fine.” By all accounts I was in a successful career that suited my strengths, but there was something missing. when to nail down the rug

Our front door is unreasonably snug against the floor. As in every time you opened the door, the rug would move with door. It literally drove me batty. This went on for several months. I bought the thinnest mat I could find, but the madness continued. How was anyone supposed to wipe their feet! I don’t want to be stuck on the same thoughts every day unless they are happy, healthy and productive. Cleaning up the nuisance thoughts like “what should I do with that rug” or “I really need to touch up that trim” is an easy and relieving way to make room for new, more productive thoughts.
