march resolution: embracing winter style

I know that come March, most people are dying for winter to be over. I hate sitting in a waiting mentality though and so instead, I’ve decided this year to really embrace the cold weather style for the next month and then once March is over, I’ll let myself go whole hog into the warm weather attitude. This does two things: prevents me from sitting in the bad attitude of “I hate cold weather” and allows me to look at my clothing from a “what do I want to wear more of before I can’t wear it anymore.”

winter athleisure

My athleisure outfits are still going strong well into the winter months, but they does require a few adjustments to contend with the cold. I am a big fan of an oversized down vest because you can throw it over practically anything. It has big pockets so it's great for a wallet + phone combo for taking a walk or running errands. It's also warm so I can throw it on if I'm running to grab the mail or heading to the gym.

a little january color

In keeping with the idea of finding something uplifting to mix up the January blahs, here’s a colorful outfit to get you through the colder months. my winter bar cart

Normally, I’m a Christmas decorations until January 1 type of person, but this year I went ahead and swapped out our bar cart before we came home for Christmas so it’s one less thing I have left to do when we get back. Originally, I was thinking about going with a buffalo plaid cocktail napkin and doing heavier decorations, but once I pulled out the champagne glasses and remembered my mini string lights, I knew a simple gold theme was in order.

what i'm learning: 12.21.18 + the winter solstice

I’ve always noticed it for myself outside of the context of astrology or any other alternative approach. I go through periods of intense motivation and periods of sluggishness. Energetic shifts can have a large impact on your personal energy. It’s the reason that things can go a little haywire at the full moon every month. So I have start researching a little more into what energy shifts are happening. While I definitely don’t think this is a hard and fast rule, I’ve noticed that this particular shift, the winter solstice, has certainly reflected in my personal energy as well.
