where i am: february 2019

HOW is it already the middle of February. I feel so thrown off right now. We were in Mexico for the first few days of February (recap coming soon) and then got really sick. I mean like a sickness from hell. We’re slowly regaining our energy and appetites, and I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve actually written anything. Apologies for the absence, but I’m back! January was a slow month and I experienced an energetic/emotional low that I haven’t seen in a while, but that picked up once I realized it was just my annual winter blues. The end of January ended up being really productive.

where i am: january 2019

Here’s the thing: last year I went way out of my comfort zone, quit my job, + started a business. There was a lot of change all at once and then towards the end of the year, things slowed down. There wasn’t as much personal growth to be had and coupled with those winter blues, it made for a hefty bout of self-doubt. Now that I’m feeling better, it’s a lot easier to remember what I’m doing and why I’m doing it. It’s a big takeaway I took from the last few weeks - I always know what I want, but I just sometimes have a hard time remembering it.

january favorite things

January is always a bit of a weird time of year. You’re coming off the holiday rush and have hopefully rested up for the new year, but there are lots of expectations and things people are working towards. All you want to do is clean and organize your house. Also, it’s freaking dark all the time and if you’re like me, you forgot to start taking your vitamin D when you should have. So in the spirit of some light-hearted fun, here is a list of a few of my current favorite things.

2018 year in review

I don’t even know where to start with this post because this year has been BONKERS. I started off the year fairly new in my law of attraction journey and was devouring content like it was my job. We got married, traveled, learned a lot, and had so much fun. I left my corporate job, started a blog, Seb started his own business, and we’ve both grown a ton. Here’s a recap of some highlights month by month (though I’m sure the best stuff was in the details).

what i'm learning: 12.21.18 + the winter solstice

I’ve always noticed it for myself outside of the context of astrology or any other alternative approach. I go through periods of intense motivation and periods of sluggishness. Energetic shifts can have a large impact on your personal energy. It’s the reason that things can go a little haywire at the full moon every month. So I have start researching a little more into what energy shifts are happening. While I definitely don’t think this is a hard and fast rule, I’ve noticed that this particular shift, the winter solstice, has certainly reflected in my personal energy as well.

gift guide for the personal growth junkie

I’ve loved putting together these gift guides, but this is definitely my favorite one yet. The things that I’m most tempted to buy fall into the personal growth category, but I think those are the thing people are most hesitant to buy. I hope these ideas inspire you to encourage the growth and development of any of the self-improvers in your life!

where i am: december

I’m learning to enjoy the journey. September and October were so full of growth and new challenges that I was constantly occupied, excited and thriving. November hit and my internal growth slowed (which to me seems like the worst thing ever) and, while I was still chugging along at running the blog, I wasn’t doing much outside of that. I wasn’t inspired to do any of the extra projects I had planned to do. I wasn’t going above and beyond.

the honest truth about a law of attraction lifestyle

A law of attraction lifestyle to me means: pursuing my joy and purpose every day, looking for new ways to grow and learn, and intentionally creating the life I want to live. And the truth is, that’s what I set out to do – tell the story of what it really looks like to live a law of attraction lifestyle. I haven’t been doing that so here’s the real truth of the uncomfortable middle.

when to nail down the rug

Our front door is unreasonably snug against the floor. As in every time you opened the door, the rug would move with door. It literally drove me batty. This went on for several months. I bought the thinnest mat I could find, but the madness continued. How was anyone supposed to wipe their feet! I don’t want to be stuck on the same thoughts every day unless they are happy, healthy and productive. Cleaning up the nuisance thoughts like “what should I do with that rug” or “I really need to touch up that trim” is an easy and relieving way to make room for new, more productive thoughts.
