developing emotional responsibility

Feelings are hard. Recently though, I’ve realized how different my emotions and mood swings are than they used to be. I used to cry at the drop of a hat. Not that something sappy doesn’t still make me teary, but I don’t cry anymore just because I’m frustrated, angry, or took a wrong turn on the way home. Once you have a handle on what’s going on with your emotions, you can decide how to deal with them. A really awesome side effect of this is that you come to understand that other people’s feelings are not your own and are not your responsibility.

how to beat the winter blues

Every year around this time I get in a funk. Seasonal Affective Disorder in full swing. This year it’s a self-doubt/lack of inspiration type funk. The good news is, I recognized it almost immediately and made a plan to start tackling it. I’ve already seen an uptick in my mood and outlook, so here are my best recommendations on beating the winter blues.

the power of visualizations

There are tons of high performers who swear by visualizations as part of their success - professional athletes, business titans, entertainers, etc. There is so much power in seeing yourself doing something. It retrains your brain to believe and expect it to be true. It makes it much less of a leap to get from here to there, thereby giving you more drive and willingness to persevere because it doesn’t seem quite as hard as it might have.

new year planning with flow

I LOVE a new year. Seriously, probably my favorite time of year after Christmas + summer. As you may know, I used to be a hustler. I loved the idea of working hard + getting shit done. Not that there’s anything inherently wrong in that mentality, but I always reserve the right to change my mind + in light of what I’ve learned about Law of Attraction, that just doesn’t work for me anymore. So you can likely see my dilemma this year since I’ve gone from hustle to flow mentality.

gift guide for the personal growth junkie

I’ve loved putting together these gift guides, but this is definitely my favorite one yet. The things that I’m most tempted to buy fall into the personal growth category, but I think those are the thing people are most hesitant to buy. I hope these ideas inspire you to encourage the growth and development of any of the self-improvers in your life!

a new way to measure growth

Sometimes I have a hard time verbalizing my growth and personal changes because they’re not the typical growth path society expects. From the outside, I’ve quit a “successful” career to start a business where I’m not making much money yet. It’s hard to quantify the changes I’ve had in my mentality and overall well-being and I can only say, “I’m wayyyyy happier” so many times before it gets annoying.

law of attraction: why it's simple but not always easy

This is the disclaimer I always want to give people who are learning about law of attraction, so they don’t assume they can produce a million dollars in their first week: this process seems really simple, but we’re humans and we like to get in our own way so it’s not always easy. We get attached to outcomes and create resistance so that the Universe isn’t able to get what we want to us.

the honest truth about a law of attraction lifestyle

A law of attraction lifestyle to me means: pursuing my joy and purpose every day, looking for new ways to grow and learn, and intentionally creating the life I want to live. And the truth is, that’s what I set out to do – tell the story of what it really looks like to live a law of attraction lifestyle. I haven’t been doing that so here’s the real truth of the uncomfortable middle.

identifying and overcoming limiting beliefs

Limiting beliefs! In and of themselves not super fun, but it is super fun to know they exist because that means you can work towards getting rid of them! Limiting beliefs are unconscious thoughts that are holding you back. Did you know that 95% of our thoughts are subconscious. Those ingrained mental habits practically run our lives. I don’t know about you, but I didn’t sign up to live by rules that I set for myself that I may no longer need or agree with.

law of attraction: alignment before action

Action is much more effective if you’re aligned and in a flow state. Everything is easier, faster and better quality. We’ve all had those days where literally nothing goes our way (aka we’re out of alignment) and our work that day suffers for it. Alignment time in the morning is an easy and really enjoyable thing to do to make your days better – whether you’re doing it for law of attraction purposes or not.

tapping into your best self

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or Tapping is a technique very similar to acupuncture that capitalizes on the meridians in your body but that can very easily be done at home without any training. One of the biggest reasons I love tapping is because it’s easy and makes me feel better immediately. Tapping can be used to improve physical health, strengthen relationships, boost confidence, curb anxiety – honestly, there’s probably an EFT video for anything you’d like to change or improve.

the value of an anti-routine

Do you ever have those days where everything just feels hard? Or on the flip side, do you have days where you crush everything on your to-do list quickly and easily? Most people don’t consider the fact that you can choose which type of day to have. Using your time in the morning to align with who you want to be that day and to set yourself up to have the best day possible is not time consuming, it’s actually more efficient.

following joy can change your life: here's how

I swear the smallest changes can make the biggest difference. Last year I committed myself to alignment time in the morning – taking time to do things like meditating, reading or listening to podcasts that make me the best version of myself to tackle the day ahead. I simply woke up and thought about what it was that would bring me the most joy.

law of attraction: what is it anyway?

Quantum mechanics tells us that on a subatomic level everything has a frequency/vibration and like attracts like. So things of a particular frequency are attracted to things of a similar frequency. What law of attraction means to me is that if I can raise my vibration, I can get more good stuff in my life. That’s maybe a little bit of an oversimplification, but it’s true.
